Most existing work on evolutionary optimization assumes that there are analytic functions for evaluating the objectives and constraints. In the real-world, however, the objective or constraint values of many optimization problems can be evaluated based on expensive experiments or simulations. Those function evaluations are time or resource consuming, posing a serious challenge to the application of evolutionary algorithms to solve these problems. To address this challenge, surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithm is usually adopted, where the exact function evaluations are replaced by the approximated function evaluations, i.e. surrogate models. In this talk, we will introduce basic techniques of surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithm, such as building surrogate models and surrogate management.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
