Part 1: An Introduction of the Online Civic Debate Collective Intelligence Platform
Join us on 7 September 2017 at 11:00 a.m. ET for the first in a series of three free online events on Governing the Rise of Artificial Intelligence. The first of these events, An Introduction to the Online Civic Debate Collective Intelligence Platform, will feature Frank Escoubes (Bluenove's CEO), Kay Firth-Butterfield (executive committee vice chair of The IEEE Global Initiative for Ethical Considerations in Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems), and Cyrus Hodes, director of the AI Initiative with The Future Society at Harvard Kennedy School

This global Online Civic Debate is a 6-month campaign using massive collective intelligence to identify ideas and solutions for the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on society. Leveraging this platform would allow us to present actionable policy tools to government and decision makers.
This introductory webinar will delve into the details of Assembl, the collective intelligence platform which we will use, explaining how it works and what outcomes are expected.

Kay will provide perspectives on policy from and an overview of The IEEE Global Initiative for Ethical Considerations in Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems as part of the program.

Frank Escoubes, President and co-founder, bluenove
Frank Escoubes is the President and co-founder of bluenove, a consulting and technology firm specialized in open innovation and collective intelligence based in France and Canada.

Frank is a former Deloitte Principal. He worked as a strategy consultant for 20 years in Europe and North America, including 8 years with Deloitte in Canada, in charge of Strategy Innovation and Cluster Acceleration.

Kay Firth-Butterfield: Executive Committee Vice-Chair, The IEEE Global Initiative for Ethical Considerations in Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems, Executive Director, AI Austin
Firth-Butterfield is a Barrister and part-time Judge who has worked as a mediator, arbitrator, business owner and professor in the United Kingdom. In the United States, she is the Executive Director and Founding Advocate of AI-Austin which is a globally focused non-profit dedicated to the responsible design, development and use of AI and the socially beneficial use of AI in the community, specifically in Healthcare, Education and ethical governance of AI. She is the former Chief Officer of the Lucid.ai Ethics Advisory Panel.

Cyrus Hodes (Moderator), Director and co-Founder, the AI Initiative and Director, The Future Society at HKS
Cyrus is passionate about radically disruptive technologies, such as AI, robotics, nanotech, biotech, genetics, IT and cognitive sciences & their impacts on society. Coming from a background of international trade, humanitarian and development work and international security, Cyrus is currently involved in life sciences and robotics global ventures.
